We are thrilled to host our 8th annual exhibit for Chris Vance. Carried over from our original gallery on Tennyson Street, this annual celebration of Chris’ work is something we look forward to throughout the year.
Chris has been described as a visual diarist. His art is the medium through which he captures, processes, and communicates his ideas and experiences. Influenced by graffiti, street art, and a large dose of cartoons, Chris’ work is always current and relatable.
Chris hails to us from Des Moines, where he is somewhat the local hero. His paintings have made their home in private residences, corporate offices, and public spaces. Murals commissioned by Metro Waste Authority and Natural Grocers in Iowa are spectacular realizations of the scale of Chris’ imagination.
Chris has been well received across the country, and no place more so than right here in Colorado. He regularly appears at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, receiving Best in Show recognition in 2011 and the honor of being the poster artist and a juror in 2012.
As in years past, we embrace the micro en masse here at Metro Frame Works, with a collage style mural of Chris’ smaller works. Together, and alone, they capture the gritty yet humorous elements of being human, always with a youthful perspective that is nurtured and preserved by being the father of four.
